gallery paintings Collecting money for buying Art, it seems to be something weird, restricted to rich and famous people (who can afford 10.000 bucks in artwork). Ok let’s talk with keeping feets on the ground. All art had one day a very affordable price, let say something like one or few hundreds euros. Let’s say we have find this masterpiece and looking forward the money to buy it.

150 euros is money. But wath worth 150 euros nowaday ? This is not an everyday purchase and let say that with 1 euros saved every day, we can collect 365 euros wich is really sufficient for one purchase a year.

Have a look now at what worth 150 euros in a contemporary shop :

  • Hard Drive (wich will be half full, if full, stop downloading on P2P !).
  • A not so wondefull designer suit, buy half price that won’t fit you and will never be weared.
  • un toy for baby (baby is scared of the weirds sounds coming from it) + a babygrow (from a famous italian designer) + a scary, dusty cuddly toy.
  • 4 impulsive purchases on Ebay. (shipping price included).
  • A really really huge TV set. (150 euros less and you could afford something where you are not required to stick to the opposite wall for getting the whole picture). And buying an expensive tv don’t modify the quality of TV programmes.
  • Christmas present, you didn’t expect. (wich will end on Ebay if you are an Ebay addict…)
  • All theses stuff you prefer not to talk about…

invention inutile : le minitel wifiWell they are lot exagerated purchases, and maybe find spare change in theses… but before avoiding impulsive action, let make a first easy (very easy) solution : simple, easy, not very fast but efficient.

150 euros in one year, we can make some pretty money. Take a piggy bank (the bigger one) , put it in the closest place you put your keys in your home sweet home (entrance, near the fireplace, then follow the little tips

— Tips list to save pretty money —

Tips N°1 : put all your spare change (0.01 euros / 0.02 euros / 0.05 euros) in the piggy bank ! The coins in your pockets, the coins you find on the ground (banknotes as well), change of newspaper, bread & milk, and theses you find in the sof.

Astuce N°2 : Decide to get an original present for christmas., birthday, special event…

Astuce N°2 : instead of taking bus/metro/taxi , take your bike or feet. Walking is good for your heart, and bike is good too.The saved fare will go diretly into piggy.

Astuce N°3 : Let piggy away from your hands. Don’t try to substitute money from his gold belly…

Astuce N°4 : Each piece us for the trolley 1 euros tesco / 2 euros Aldi) will directly be driven to piggy (but you may have theses plastic coins instead of piece now, so let’s think about something else…).

Astuce N°5 : Put the price of a cinema ticket in piggy, particulary if you planned to see a really bad movie (Asterix and the Olympic games from thomas langmann is really the most annoying and not-funny movie ever made, please, save your money!)

Astuce N°6 : Each month, you can make a bank account cleaning, meaning that you round your bank account to the perfect end of 0,00 euros (13,526,575.56 -> 13,526,570.00), then you get the sensationnal feeling of having won the lottery, or having a very tidy bank account), and few euros in piggy.

Astuce N°7 :Re-sell on Ebay all theses things in your attic. Doesn’t meen you try to avoid your unusefull purchase, but keep your attic/laundry cleen from thesese. Instead of hidding shameless stuff, let expose something on the wall…

Let’s do it ! :

centimes en tirelire Have a look at my galss already full of coins in few weeks… already 2 Euros end few cents, ok it’s not sufficient but it’s a start !

PS : As soon i have few ideas about how to save sapre change, i will give you theses new tips ! And try few galleries this week end and look for something you can afford with all theses money….

Art. How much does it worth ?

septembre 3rd, 2008 § 0 comments § permalink

buying art “2500 euros this canvas, whoa, f**k *** **** !*&#”, “i could have done it, even me 5 year old boy !!”

Do you remember the last time you went in front of a gallery in city center ? Well i know you thought someting like this. Well it’s not false, it’s not true neither, well let’s have a look at how they decide to fix the price…

auction art1. Auction market. This is the first and easier way to know exactly how much the artwork worth. Offer and request make the price unstable (increase & decrease).

Anyway, price are always too much and don’t fit all the budget.

buying on ebay 2.Ebay. This is the most common bidding system. Popular and affordable. We can find all the range in the art paintings. From the original work to the assembly line paintings, designed for the highest standard dublin apartments. According to Ebay, the Art is not the best category for selling objects. The average ratio sales/bids is 0.2 (80% bids are not concluded into sales). Good reasons to hesitate, pretty much questions from buyer about artwork quality, history…. well, ebay don’t give a good estimate of the price , sometimes under-evaluate, most of the time, over evaluate.

gallery paintings3. Selling in Gallery. Basically speaking, the gallery owner host the paintings, get insurance for them, and sell them. He is the manager, like the hollywood stars, or the musical agent of a show-business singer.

But for all this work, he will take a part of the money : 45%. He knows who’s buying, how much it worth, how much it will cost in few years and how much he will buy back the painting if the owner decide to change the paintings of his apartment… 2 major informations : price showned in galleries is twice more than you can get if yopu buy directly to the artist. The second information is that the gallery owner can give an estimated price, so, how does he get it ?

get interrested in art4. Interrest in Art. Contemporary art. Just before talking about that, i make a little precision Contemporary Art” is not Modern Art, neither green & blue circles with red background, neither a blus paint spot at the bottom of a huge white canvas. Contemporary Art is just art just done. Something getting directly from the artist Studio, and now.

In the contemporary art, we can find 2 artistes : emerging artists wich try to find his place, and established artist (these wich find their place). So, just before glory, private views, and canvas at 50.000.000 euros (add as much zeros as you want…), the artist had to find his way and sell his canvas at the fair price. So here we are…the fair price.

Artist studio canvas5. The fair price. This is the price an artist will ask for his painting, directly from his studio. The price is fair, depending on the supply price, time required for making the painting. We are close to know the fair price, let’s say something like :

  • 50-150 euros for a small sized .
  • 150 euros-300 euros for a big size.

This is approximatively the price range in wich you can find something great, with a price wich will evolve in the next few years.

So for the next talk about that, we will discuss all the ways to get theses famous pretty money (150 euros) for buying your first artist painting. (a real true one)….

L’art, combien ca coute ?

septembre 3rd, 2008 § 0 comments § permalink

get interrested in art4.

On y arrive….

Artist studio canvas5.
