Tuesday, early afternoon. Here we are : i just started my first painting on a huge canvas. Huge size mean supersized size, XXL : 210 x 100 cm. (I know there is much bigger, but for a next time). It’s big enough, as i already spent 4 hours in the afternoon, doing fishes, fishes and fishes. It’s pretty cold in autumn here, and windy as usual, so i managed to work in a shelter on the clontarf Road.
Tuesday, before the sunset. Time to pack it on, and go on a next day. It’s a long long work to paint meter squares. I had the visit of a very few people wich were quiet curious about somebody painting outside this day. Start of the work is not always interresting, especially when this is not really changing a lot. So next day, is the occasion to go from the “gros oeuvre”, to the “oeuvre d’art”. With big hopes about the weather as usual and hope that the painting will dry in a correct manner as i’m using only a canvas roll without wood structure.
Back to this epic painting. So when the blue and yellow is almost dry, i can make the final brushstroke with the black. I made it inside. Weather was not keen enough to me. Painting with freezing hands is not the best. It is the most hard part of the job and the most interresting as well : you can’t make mistake, you have to work in a acrobatic position, but everything appears and come to life.
The supersized canvas is finished. so far we have :
- 10 hours of hard labour
- 500ml peinting used.
- 2.10 X 1 metre canvas.
- 70fishes
- 1 worm (the unlucky one).
The painting is now in the gallery, in full size now, so i f you want to see it, just click here….
