Hanging up the paintings.

One of simple thing in the exhibition is to put a string in the pack of the painting, put the nail in the concrete wall and hang up the painting.
Well it’s simple for one painting, but when you want to hang up more than one painting at the same height, it become really tricky. Adjust the height of the nail, adjust the string (loose or thight), what a nightmare.

So to save your time i will present you my way of hanging up the painting with a string : the adjustable string length.

You have no knowledge in the knot, just the simple knot for the shoestring, let me introduce you 3 others different knots. 3 not so complicated knots i’ve learned once when i was boyscout, but that i have forget. the first knot will give elegant ending to both string ends. The second one is a slipknot and the last one is the knot used for tighting the string.
noeud de capucin The capuchin knot.

This one is used to end the string. Something clean. Once you get enough string (about 3 times the width of the canvas), you cut it and do this easy knot, the simple knot everybody did once, but this time you wil do three turns instead of one.

noeud coulant The slipknot.

A slipknot to hang the painting…. well the painting is not dead and this is a knot for tighting the string. This one has a particularity : if nothing is in the loop you can pull on it and unfasten the knot. Let see the picture : do a simple knot, and just put the string back at the end just tif you wanted to undo it.

This one last is the most important : you can adjust it. So give some loose to lower the painting, tight it to raise it up. Let see the picture for the HowToDoIt.
